Takes a bit to get them going, but once lit they give off a nice steady gentle smoke.

I’m new to bees, and have been having a terrible time with my smoker. I think I’m slow with my bee work because it’s new to me, and my smoker was always going out on me. This time the smoker stayed lit the whole time.

The smoke isn’t pungent nor sharp. Hard to describe.

I had to stuff my (regular sized) smoker with tiny pine twigs and I used a propane torch (hand-held) to get them going, and had 5 pellets inside. That worked. Shredded up newspaper didn’t get them to light. But once going they worked great.

When finished I stuffed grass in the nozzle and set it in a safe place (things are a terrible fire-hazard imo) hoping it would go out, but I see it all burnt up. So not sure there’s a way to extinguish and re-use. In my ase that’s a detractor as I have only 1 hive (so far!) and don’t need much smoke.

But highly recommend, as they did stay lit and the bees didn’t recoil in shock from it.

Finally something that works well for me. Love this product. Keeps smoking lo g after my hive inspections.

Have always used cotton waste, pine needles or wood shavings in my smoker....got lots of smoke, but had to be very careful not to burn the bees, and the wood shavings especially left a tremendous amount of creosote in the smoker. These pellets are (a) easy to light, (b) only require half a dozen to get the smoke I need for as long as I need it, and (c) most importantly for me, I don't have worry about harming the bees
