Chilean Bees

Unfortunately the day being so cold we lost a lot of the bees in the transfer from the containers to the hives. Both hive’s are still active, just lower population. I have my fingers crossed hoping for warmer weather.

Half the packages were dead.

First packages off of the pallet. Picked up at 10 am and shooked into the hive at 2 pm @ 9C. Of 4 packages 2 were not active in a cluster when I shook them and the bees spilled to the bottom board. The queen cages had a hard plastic stopper and were not easy to open without breaking. Two surviviing packages look good and the queen is active Dancing Bee has been very good about replacing them with no questions asked.

Bees seem good, I understand that it wasn’t Dancing Bee’s fault but the process at the airport was a complete fiasco.
