    Pick-up Information
    North Star Queen orders will be available for pick up in Port Hope on the day of harvest.  Queens are required to be picked up the day of agreed date of order to optimize survival and to avoid forfeiture of the non-refundable livestock purchases.    

    North Star Queens are raised by some of the most experienced queen producers in Canada.  Specifically bred for wintering ability, honey production, resistance to mites and brood disease.

    Maintaining high-quality queens is essential for successful beekeeping operations.

    Splitting colonies and introducing new local queens is an excellent management technique and should be used to maintain vigor in every apiary.

    What Makes the North Star Queen Different From Other Canadian Queen Bees?

    The North Star Queen is selectively bred not only for winter hardiness and productivity, but also AFB testing and strong genetic lines, offering enhanced disease resistance and hive longevity.

    How Should I Prepare My Hive Before Introducing a North Star Queen?

    Ensure the hive is queenless for at least 24 hours and has healthy worker populations. Introducing a North Star Queen with a proper introduction cage and a slow-release method maximizes acceptance.

    Is Local Pickup the Only Way to Guarantee a Healthy North Star Queen?

    Yes, picking up your North Star Queen on the designated date ensures optimal health and survival. Shipping is available, but comes with risks that the buyer must accept.
