Welcome to our buzzing educational hive! Our beekeeping programs offer an immersive and enriching experience for students of all ages, from elementary to high school, including specialized classes tailored for students with special needs. Here's what we have to offer:
**Field Trips:** Our field trips are designed to engage and educate students about the fascinating world of bees. Geared towards either elementary or high school age groups, these trips run for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours long. Available during the months of mid-May (weather permitting), June, September, and early October, students have the opportunity to suit up and experience the bees firsthand with our knowledgeable beekeepers. For those who prefer a more relaxed setting, we also offer a screened-in Gazebo where participants can safely observe the bees without suiting up or getting too close.
**Elementary Age Focus:** Our programs for elementary-aged students dive into the wonders of pollination and the intricate workings of bee colonies. From exploring the roles of different bee castes to learning about the parts of a bee, students engage in hands-on activities, communication exercises, and informational sessions. We provide engaging handouts, worksheets, and videos to enhance their learning experience. During the winter months, students can participate in hands-on beeswax and candle making activities to further explore the world of bees.
**High School Age Focus:** Our programs for high school students offer more in-depth exploration into beekeeping and related topics. From delving into bee terminology to understanding the year in the life of a beekeeper, students gain valuable insights into the complexities of beekeeping. Our programs can also be tailored to specific subjects such as environmental science, business, or even candle making, providing students with a holistic learning experience that aligns with their interests and curriculum requirements. **Specialized Classes for LLS Students:** In addition to our standard programming, we offer specialized classes designed specifically for students with special needs. These classes are tailored to accommodate various learning styles and abilities, providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all students to thrive.
