Protect Your Hives and Your Investment From AFB.

Introducing the first and only registered biologic to combat AFB: Inoculated Queens certified by Dalan Animal Health, Inc.

Developed by Dalan Animal Health, this breakthrough in honeybee care is the first and only biological medication conditionally licensed by the USDA-CVB and CFIA-CCVB to help in the fight against AFB. The medication is safe, non-chemical, and suitable for use in organic agriculture.

American Foulbrood (AFB) disease can cause significant economic harm to the honeybee industry and devastate honeybee populations.

The bacterial spores that cause AFB have been found to be present in up to 50% of hives tested in Canada and the U.S.

The use of antibiotics to prevent AFB results in bacterial resistance and negatively impacts hive health overall. The only solution to treat hives with clinical AFB remains burning the hives and all related equipment.

Queen bees inoculated with the Dalan medication are an industry-first non-chemical prophylactic solution. When Queen bees are orally inoculated with Dalan’s medication, protection works through a biological mechanism called transgenerational immune priming (TGIP), whereby the queen passes immunity to her daughters before they hatch. The Dalan technology exposes queen bees to inactive

bacteria, which enables the larvae hatched in the hive to resist infection.

Healthy Animals. Healthy Planet.

Some things to keep in mind when you pick up your bees:

  • Transportation: sealing, taping, or closing bees in any way are the responsibility of the new happy owner of the bees.
  • Bring your protective clothing or arrive early to purchase it from our store.
  • It's best to pick up bees when the foragers are in house.  This is why we strictly schedule pick up times between 7:00pm & 9:00pm
  • The optimum transport is the back of a pickup, although the bees can be restricted for car transport (at your own risk)
  • Ratchet tie down straps are needed for transporting singles and full colonies.
  • We do not stop the flight of bees or close entrances.  IT IS OUR POLICY NOT TO RESTRICT BEES FOR TRANSPORT.  It's up the new owner to decide how to move their bees.
  • For car transport you may wish to bring a sheet or netting to cover the bees.
  • We're not responsible for bees that get over heated once they leave our care.
  • All bees sold are in need of larger living quarters right away. Nucs will need to be installed into waiting 10 frame equipment. Singles will need their second box. Doubles will need to have honey supers put on. The bees we sell are strong and need the room when you get them.
  • It's recommended to feed nucs especially if they are being installed on un-drawn foundation.
  • Any issues or concerns must be brought to the attention of Dancing Bee Staff within 48 hours of pick up.
